Period 2-3

Do Now: 
1. Get a chrome book and log in.  
-Open up this week's reading log (Sept.23-27) in Google Classroom.
-Record the starting page and start time.
-Write your reading log when the timer goes off.

2. Open up GoodReads.com and log in with Google.
-Update the book you are currently reading and the page you are on.
-If you finished a book, mark it as finished and rate it.

To Do:
1. Together we will read the excerpt from Crash to review the Aha Moment and then move on to the third signpost. (We forgot to do this last week.)  Find the Aha Moment and highlight it as we read.  When we are done, we will share what we found.

2. Copy the Signpost #3 Notes into the Reading Section of your English binder.

Signpost #3: Tough Questions

3. First, we will watch some examples of the Tough Questions signpost:

4. We will read an excerpt from A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park and highlight examples of the TQ Signpost.  
-When you come upon a Tough Question, you ask "What does this question make me wonder about?"
-We learn about the conflict and about what might happen later in the story.

HW: 
1. Find an example of either the Contrasts and Contradictions, Aha Moment or Tough Questions signpost in one of your favorite stories.  Describe it in 3-5 sentences and share it with the class tomorrow. (You will want to write something down so you're not just free styling in class.  Your explanation needs to make sense.) Yes, this is graded.

2. SSR Log & Read 30 mins.

3. Some people still need to finish and submit their ReadWorks.org assignment!

4. Some people still need to add their "Miss. Awful" Quizlet study set to the class.
