3. "Show, Don't Tell" mini lesson:
As we read, pick two things that you think made their writing interesting.
Pick one thing you would like to do when you write your own story.
Turn to a partner and talk about what you found.
-As a class, we will make a list of good "Show, Don't Tell" techniques.
-Now you'll begin planning your personal narrative.
First you'll draw out a story map, then you 'll begin writing.
Be sure that your story has a beginning, middle and end and the key elements of literature (characters, setting, climax, resolution).
-After you've spent about 15-20 minutes on your story map/began writing your story, you'll trade with a classmate for him/her to review. With constructive criticism and suggestions in mind, edit and revise your work.
-We will finish writing our stories Wednesday.
