Dear Class, 

Yesterday I went to the doctor and found out I have a sinus infection as well as an ear infection.  She gave me three different medications which I started Thursday evening. The doctor also told me to get some rest until next week, therefore, I will not be in school today. I miss you guys and our daily routine. I should be back in school on Monday. Have a great day, work hard and please behave! I will check all of your assigned work next week.

Here is what you need to do in class today:

Period 2-3

1. Vocabulary: (15-20 mins) 

Work in your vocabulary workbook on lesson 2, activities c & d.  I will check this on Monday.

2. SSR (15-20 mins.)

Read for 20 minutes and then write a reading log.  Hand in your SSR Log sheet in the metal basket with the number 7 on it over by my desk.

3. Grammar: (15-20 mins)
     a. We'll start Rule 4 today in the Grammar Packet (Rules 2, 3, 4, & 5) 
     b. Do the page titled, "Locate the Nouns" (last page for Rule 4)

   
*If you finish early: Do the Subject & Predicate Extra Practice worksheet

     and then take the Subject & Predicate Quiz.  Move on to number 4 if you've done these.

4. Writing: (10 minutes)

 In your journal, respond to one of these prompts.  Your answer should be at least 3 sentences, but not longer than two paragraphs. (You should have two entries done by Monday, which will be checked).

HW:
-Finish any classwork from today:

-Vocab. workbook: 2 a, b, c, d & e

-Grammar packet all of the "Rule 4" pages

-If you didn't do it in class, you need to write a response to one of the New Year's writing prompts.  

(20 responses due at the end of the month) Take your journal home if you need to do this. By Monday there should be two entries written.

Period 5-6

1. Vocabulary (15-20 mins) 

Work in your vocabulary workbook on lesson 2, activities c & d.  I will check this on Monday.

2. Grammar (15-20 mins) 

We will start the lesson 2 grammar packet.

Do p.32. I will check this Monday.

3. Literature (15-20 mins) 

You need to read up to chapter 24 in Stargirl.
Answer the questions in the packet that go with chapters 22, 23 & 24.

4. SSR (15-20 mins.)

Read and then do an SSR entry. Hand in your sheet (metal basket by my desk). 

5. Writing (10 mins.)

In your journal, respond to one of these prompts.  Your answer should be at least 3 sentences, but not longer than two paragraphs.
