Announcement:
Today we will begin a new unit!  We will each end up choosing a
topic or issue that is important to us.

We will need to do four things in this process:
1. Gather information
2. Form a claim or stance
3. Explain to others why we should care too.
4. Offer ways to be proactive.

By Friday, you will have an essay written.

Do Now:
Get a new reading log sheet and write your name.
This is the week of: 3/4-3/8.
Punch holes and put it in your SSR section.
Begin SSR.
Write your log at the timer.
Bring it up for a stamp.
Give yourself a point if you got a stamp.

To Do:
1. What are some major problems in the world right now that you
feel people need to pay more attention to?  What are some problems
that we need to make a bigger effort to fix?
Start a list in the writing section of your notebook.

2. One source for collecting information might be in a documentary.
We will begin watching An Inconvenient Truth today.
As you watch, complete the notes page that goes along with it.

3. Start brainstorming ideas for your own research topic.

4. Once you have 3 ideas and have shown them to Mrs. King,
you should work on vocabulary. You will create a Quizlet on
lesson 6 (or 18) words.
