Grammar
Mini lesson in journals on "too"

Reading
7th: Today we will continue reading and discussing stave 1 of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.
Goal: Answer questions 1-5 from stave 1.
8th: Today we will continue reading Flowers for Algernon.
Goal: Answer questions on worksheet.

Vocabulary
Complete center work to review vocabulary terms from lessons 1-6.

Writing
Independent writing to get closer to final draft.  (Final draft is due Friday 12/11/15)
Check in with Mrs. King for editing suggestions (C.O.P.S. and Grammar).
Check in with Mrs. King for content.
ASK YOURSELF: "Does my essay match the style of the model/example essay I chose?"

Grammar
Mini lesson in journals on "too" and revisit "to." 

Reading
7th grade: Today we will continue reading and discussing stave 1 of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.
Goal: Complete questions 1-5 from stave 1 as a group.

8th grade: Today we will review yesterday's Flowers For Algernon vocabulary worksheet, continue reading and practice summarizing through discussion.  We will identify possible themes and support our claims by citing textual evidence.

SITE TO HELP WITH GUIDED READING QUESTIONS:
Background Information on Flowers for Algernon

You must be able to discuss the plot, setting, main characters, and other key story elements including conflict, and internal and external conflict.

By the end of class today, you will complete the second worksheet based on Flowers For Algernon.

Vocabulary
You will have class time to work on your packet.
Work towards completing your center work packet to review vocabulary terms from lessons 1-6.
It should be completed by Friday, 12/18/15.

Writing
Independent writing to get closer to final draft.  (Final draft is due Friday 12/11/15)

Goal: Complete questions 5-10 from stave 1.

8th grade: Today we will review yesterday's Flowers For Algernon vocabulary worksheet, continue reading and practice summarizing through discussion.  We will continue discussing and identifying possible themes and support our claims by citing textual evidence.

You must be able to discuss the plot, setting, main characters, and other key story elements.

Vocabulary- Master vocabulary from lessons 1-4 using the review packets.
Writing- Personal Narrative- "fix 'n' fancy up" our writing on chrome books
            -Work 1:1 with Mrs. King
Grammar- Mini Lesson review & practice in journals to, too, two

Friday, December 11th, 2015
Agenda:
1) Review The Outlook.  Pick your favorite piece to discuss. 
2) Grammar Mini Quiz- they're, there, their & to, too, and two
3) Guided reading Questions:
     7th- A Christmas Carol
     8th- Flowers for Algernon

Reminders:
-Final Draft of personal narrative due Friday, December 18th.
-We will read our personal narratives to the class and celebrate ourselves as writers.
-Hand in vocabulary packet (if completed).  If not, continue working on it.
